PIOTR KUSCH
born in 1965 in Starogard Gdański, Poland. He graduated from the Laski Secondary School for the Blind.
Sculpting in
wood, stone and clay. He’s been having individual as well as group exhibitions in Poland and other
European countries
such as Great Britain, Germany, France, Hungary and Norway. Since 2024 he is a member of the Artists
Association KERAMOS (Stowarzyszenie Artystów Ceramików KERAMOS).
Education:
- 1982 – 1985 metal-plastic workshop at Jacek Rochacki’s studio
- 1987 – 1995 working together at Barbara Zbrożyna’s sculpture studio
- 2000 – Participant in the ceramic-course organized by Albert and Poli Krystyniak at the Ethnographic Museum in Węgorzewo
Grants and residencies:
- 1994 – 1995 Grant for young artists of UNESCO (Aschberg Bursaries for artists), nine months’ stay / scholarship in Great Britain (contacts with local artists as e.g. Hideo Furuta, Flavio Titolo, Robert Jakes, Harvey Hood, Frederick Bushe, Marion Smith, visiting museums in London, Cardiff, own artistic work)
- 1996 – Residency in the Scottish Sculpture Workshop, Lumbsden, Aberdeenshire, founded by the Fredericka Bushe’s Foundation
- 1996 – 1997 bursary by the Towarzystwo Opieki nad Ociemniałymi (Society for the Blind in Laski, Poland)
- 2018, 2019 – First Prize from the participants of the XI and XII International Plein-airs for sculptors in Górki Wielkie (Silesia), Zofia Kossak-Szczucka Foundation
